Tip of The Day

Park for the walk you’re taking

In New Paltz, a quick stop downtown can easily turn into a longer stroll on the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail. Before leaving the car, check the posted time limit; if you’re heading out for a walk, choose a designated longer-term space instead of a short-stay spot. Then you can linger without watching the clock.

New Paltz has a new place to stay. New Paltz Way, originally proposed as Water Street Trails Hotel, officially opened to the public on July 1, 2026, after nearly three contentious years before the Village of New Paltz Planning Board. The three-story inn at 11 Water Street represents a new approach to eco-conscious lodging in the Hudson Valley.
